Joakim Lassen is the fifth generation of his family to work with furniture. His great grandfather was manufacturer Fritz Hansen. Joakim Lassen is Director, Design & Communication of Montana and in charge of product development, communications and marketing.
Joakim Lassen has a master’s degree in cultural geography and started out on his professional career as an environmental consultant for a Danish engineering firm. In 1992, his accomplishments included collaborating with the Danish Environmental Protection Agency on an environmental review of the Montana shelving system at his father Peter J. Lassen’s factory in Hårby. In 1998, Joakim Lassen entered the furniture industry and took up the post of director of the DJOB company.
Together with his father Peter J. Lassen, Joakim Lassen designed the height-adjustable HS, HS2 and HS2 PR desks and the lines of MP tables, and he contributed to the development of the “Speaker” lectern.
Joakim Lassen’s interest in the environment continues to be a powerful motivating force and, together with external partners, he has helped to develop a height-adjustable desk powered by solar cells.
In 2003, Joakim Lassen rediscovered Verner Panton’s first chair – the Tivoli chair – which he put back into production and which is now a striking design feature of Montana’s product range.
